have to then at the end get to -- he would have to win nevada iowa which are states the obama folks think are already in their column they're very confident about them. so it's a tough path for them in governor romney loses ohio. >> what are you looking for in share of the electorate? >> the share of the white vote and minority vote. president obama got 43% of the white vote. that's a shrinking part of the electorate shrinking since 1992. or is this a new electorate? in 2008 president obama created a new coalition and the electorate is moving in the president's way. if governor romney does well tonight, the electorate will look more like it did in 2000 and 2004 than it did in 2008. >> i think 20% of the electorate in 2008 was a minority vote and obama won that, 80% of that vote. they're predicting that could go higher in terms of that part of the electorate. but then in you look at states like ohio and wisconsin, obama would win there because of actually the white vote because there's a lot of white votes in those states. >> it would be an irony, if he wins in o

in wisconsin, iowa, and nevada. let me ask you specifically about nevada. we see -- as karen was saying, strong early voting advantages. mitt romney appears not to be making any stops there over the next three days. do you der rooifr anything from that sfl. >> i derive a lot from the early voting numbers and i think the fact that romney is not going there is quite telling. nevada is probably almost gone. and the way that the demographics have shifted in nevada this may be the last election where nevada is really in play for republicans. there's also an interesting thing that happened there on the ground. ron paul supporters sort of took over the republican party in nevada and kind of destroyed it in a way. the groundwork there is really poor for the republican party to the extent that the idaho republican party has actually been sending mail into the state. that's how bad it is. >> so why is mitt romney going to pennsylvania? >> well, i think he's looking at the fact that he can't win in ohio, he's behind there. even his people are sort of acknowledging that that's falling off the map. he has t

of the hour we'll take you to nevada and wisconsin. first, back to sole dad. >>> at the end of the day, it's all going to be about the math. in order to win, you have to hit the magic number of 270 electoral votes. let's get to christine romans who is crunching the numbers. >> the rose to 270. what if it were a draw at 269? it's possible. there are four 269 scenarios. statistically, there are 120 different scenarios. four with the swing states. this is hypothetical, remember. the map is assuming that states that are actually leaning go in the direction that they're leaning right now. wisconsin, ohio, and new hampshire, new hampshire with the four electoral votes, if they go for obama and romney wins nevada, colorado, iowa, virginia, and the 29 over there in florida, then you're at a tie. worst nightmare for both parties. 269 each. now a note for iowa here, this is assuming it goes red, it goes for romney with the six electoral votes. recent polls there showing a slight lead, actually, for obama. if wisconsin and ohio vote democrat, you know, technically you could think -- you could conclud

not lose that other senate seat they might have lost in nevada, the old jon ensign seat that was given to dean heller. it stays with him. and while president obama carried 28 states last time, he carried 26 or 27 states this time, depending on how florida goes. that means republicans did lose everything else, but got back indiana and also north carolina. so it was not a totally hopeless night for republicans. also, hey, remember the crazy thaddeus mccotter seat in michigan, where thaddeus mccotter screwed up and they had to run this reindeer herder, santa claus impersonator for the seat, a guy whose own brother says he's crazy. that guy won. the shirtless reindeer guy won. so the republicans have him. big picture in the house, thanks mostly to redistricting the republicans were not in danger of losing the house, and they didn't legal cause it, even though the republican majority appears to have shrunk there. and even though they did get the reindeer guy. but in terms of, honestly, of what went well for republicans in this election, that was pretty much it. it is a short list. want to t

chilly and santa rosa and nevada. is about 45 degrees in san jose. it will warm- up to low 70's. it will upper 7e coast. the north bay is expecting low 70's abou73 about 73 degrees for santa rosa. as we take a look at satellite we have been filling the warm front weekend. we will not get rain from this it would just usher and cool air. we do have rain in the forecast. >> holiday shopping season is well under way with more than $11 billion exchanging hands. for this is a positive economic. thousands of people packed into the downtown area not only to find bargains but to see the lighting of this tree. as we mentioned there is plenty of shopping bags to be seen family stocking up on clothes and electronics the nearby center opened at 5:00 a.m. on friday morning. one shopper stated that she has been planning for this day and it was worthwhile. shopping was great and it has been terrific. i am staying at st. francis so i can shop all day long. everybody has been really great and friendly. we found everything that we needed. >> there were plenty of shopping bags to be seen in humans

issues throughout the entire weekend. the sierra nevada mountain range picked up significant snowfall, so anyone coming out skiing -- out to do some skiing, food news for you. very heavy rain across parts of seattle and portland, some places could pick up 5-10 inches of rainfall, so flooding is a concern. the roadways not looking too good. we're also expecting significant snowfall over the next couple of days across the cascade, so travel will be tricky and, of course, you factor in the wind, just not very pleasant. we do have one frontal system as we head east across portions of the great lakes into the central plains, but most of this activity is really light and is just going to continue to fizzle out. so no issues with travel. and last week we were keeping our eyes on an area of low pressure, we're actually going to be seeing very quiet weather across the northeast over the next couple of days including thursday for the macy's thanksgiving day parade in new york city. currently, airport conditions very quiet across many of the big airport hubs and for wednesday looking good, nice acro

they need to come back here one more time. we go to nevada, then ohio, then florida, ohio. then virginia, then ohio. they feel like even though they have got an event this afternoon at the airport in columbus they need to come back here one more time. very unusual for a presidential candidate to come out to do an event on election day. typically they wrap up around midnight as governor romney is planning to tonight in manchester, new hampshire with kid rock and others and go back to the home base and sit there and go vote. they wait for election results to come in that night. governor romney and his campaign feeling because they feel like they could grab ohio? they have been very confident about that with their conversations with me or they feel like they need to come back here because it is slipping away. we also don't know what type of event it will be or where it will be. the columbus, dayton area has been a focus. they want to reinforce ham milt ton county -- hamilton county in cincinnati or collier county in cleveland. we don't know what will happen or what form it will take because
